Medical Clinic
The Need for a New Medical Clinic
Many of the individuals served by Woods have complex medical needs. To accommodate those needs, the Woods' Medical Clinic provides twenty-four hour care to clients through a Medical Director, community physicians, and licensed nurses. The average annual number of client visits to the medical clinic exceeds 4,700. These visits include:
- acute care
- podiatry care
- neurological care
- ophthalmology and optometry care
- routine physicals
A More Comfortable Space
The building where the Medical Clinic and the Employee Training Center are currently located was designed as a residence and utilized as such until the early nineties. Construction of a new building would allow more efficient use of space.
As many of these individuals have complex physical, emotional, and behavioral challenges, they are especially fearful of medical examinations. It is important to provide a space that is more welcoming and professional. In addition, some services have had to be dispersed to other locations on campus, due to lack of space.
The Medical Clinic Wing
More than 8,000 square feet will include separate waiting areas for well and ill patients, Primary Care Exam room, Eye Exam room, Neurology Exam room, nurse station, offices and other administrative areas, and storage for medical records.
