The Need for a New Employee Training Center

As one of the largest private employers in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Woods Services employs more than 1,600 Direct Care Staff, teachers, nurses, therapists and support staff who work with clients to reach their individual goals.

Training – the Key to Quality Care

The number of staff at Woods has doubled over the past decade. The complex nature of many clients' diagnoses demands an intensive staff-to-client ratio. To ensure that its clients are given the best possible care, Woods offers training that is above and beyond what is required by government regulations.

The Employee Training Center annually conducts approximately 75,000 hours of training. A variety of In-Service days and other relevant training courses are offered to enhance professional development.

In order to more effectively train staff, a space is needed that will simultaneously accommodate large group lectures, small discussion groups, and workshop areas for individual learning. Due to the present lack of appropriate space, many sessions must be held at various locations around campus, most of which are not ideally equipped for training purposes. The department also lacks modern audio/visual equipment and other types of technology that would enhance training.

The Employee Training Wing

More than 12,000 square feet will incorporate a lobby, meeting room, large and small classrooms, computer training room, and offices.

The new center will not only provide the space needed to train the growing number of employees at Woods, it will also make it possible to provide them with state-of-the-art training. Staff must keep abreast of new technologies and innovative strategies used in the care of people with complex needs. This training will insure that the highest quality staff will be available to support people who live at Woods.
