E. Sherman Chase Employee Training Center
The Need for a New Employee Training Center
As one of the largest private employers in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Woods Services employs more than 2,000 Direct Care Staff, teachers, nurses, therapists and support staff who work with clients to reach their individual goals.
Training – the Key to Quality Care
The number of staff at Woods has doubled over the past decade. The complex nature of many clients' diagnoses demands an intensive staff-to-client ratio. To ensure that its clients are given the best possible care, Woods offers training that is above and beyond what is required by government regulations.
The Employee Training Center annually conducts approximately 75,000 hours of training. A variety of In-Service days and other relevant training courses are offered to enhance professional development.
In order to more effectively train staff, a space was needed that would simultaneously accommodate large group lectures, small discussion groups, and workshop areas for individual learning. The department also lacked modern audio/visual equipment and other types of technology that would enhance training.
The E. Sherman Chase Employee Training Center
More than 12,000 square feet incorporates a lobby, meeting room, large and small classrooms, computer training room, and offices.
Named for Eddie Chase, who was a long-term resident at Woods, the new center not only provides the space needed to train the growing number of employees at Woods, it makes it possible to provide them with state-of-the-art training. Staff must keep abreast of new technologies and innovative strategies used in the care of people with complex needs. This training insures that the highest quality staff will be available to support people who live at Woods.
