Campaign Events
Each year, Dr. Robert G. Griffith and Woods Services' Board of Trustees host the President's Dinner. This event honors members of the Mollie Woods Society and donors to The Campaign for Woods' Second Century.
At the last two dinners in 2009 and 2010, The Jane Cowles Stewardship Award was presented to a donor who has demonstrated extraordinary generosity and loyalty to Woods over a number of years. The award is named for Janie Cowles, who lived at Woods from 1944 until she passed away in 2006. For nearly three decades the Cowles Family exhibited unprecedented generosity in support of Woods and its clients. This was facilitated after Mr. Cowles' death by a long-time family friend, Martha Roby Stephens, who became Janie's guardian. In 2009, the inaugural award was presented to Mrs. Stephens in recognition of her stewardship over the years.
In 2010, we honored Nancy Lynn Squier. Nancy became involved with Woods more than 20 years ago when she assumed guardianship for her sister, Dolores, who lived with us for more than 50 years. Nancy recognized a need for specialized devices to help Woods' clients interact with their environments beyond the limitations imposed by their disabilities. Her giving made it a priority to fill this need and, as a result, the Squier Assistive Technology Center was established in 1995.
Both honorees have also contributed to the organization by serving on The Campaign for Woods' Second Century Cabinet. We thank them for their continuing support of Woods' mission.
