- August 2005 Woods Prepares for a Campaign
Trustees approve a fundraising strategy that includes preparation for a large-scale campaign. Woods hires consultants to conduct a feasibility study. - February 2006 Case for Support Drafted
A committee representative of our trustees, administration and staff develops a case for support that will guide the campaign. - May 2007 Woods breaks ground for a Medical, Dental and Employee Training Center
- Kick-off of the Silent Phase of the Campaign
Woods holds its first Campaign Cabinet meeting. National Campaign Chair Mitch Pozez indicates 40 percent of the goal needs to be raised before Woods publicly announces the campaign. Consultants concluded that Woods could expect to raise a maximum of $6.4 million during the course of a five-year campaign. - August 2007 Second Campaign Cabinet Meeting
Mr. Pozez announces that the Campaign Cabinet has already raised $4.5 million, which is 75percent of the $6.4 million goal. He asks the Cabinet to recommit their efforts and raise the entire $6.4 million by its November meeting. See the special insert in the August 2007 Woods' World. - September 2007 Woods Receives Challenge from Kresge Foundation
The Kresge Foundation of Troy, Michigan announces a challenge grant of $415,000 awarded to Woods provided that the organization can raise an additional $2.5 million by December 31, 2008. - November 2007 Cabinet Exceeds Five-Year Goal
Mr. Pozez announces that the Campaign Cabinet raised $6.47 million in gifts and pledges, thus surpassing the five-year campaign goal in seven months. Mr. Pozez acknowledges that Woods’ long-term needs are much greater than the initial $6.4 million goal; therefore, the Campaign will continue with a goal of at least $10 million. Mr. Pozez stated:
“As we go forward, we will proclaim these achievements to all of our constituencies, and we will seek their support and participation in this historic endeavor. This extraordinary effort is an opportunity for those who know and love Woods to wholeheartedly invest in its present and its future. Our mission remains clear. Woods announces at Visitors’ Day on June 1 that families, friends, businesses and foundations have committed $7,925,044 to the Campaign. - November 2008 Dedication
A dedication ceremony is held for The E. Sherman Chase Employee Training Center, Mikey Faulkner Dental Clinic, and Alexis LeeDavenport Medical Clinic. The building opens in February 2009. - December 2008 Kresge Challenge Met
On December 17, the Foundation announces that Woods Services has met all requirements to fulfill the Kresge Challenge. See the special insert in the Fall 2008 Woods' World. - April 2009 Pinewood Fundraising Begins
The renovation of the Pinewood building to convert it back to use as a residence begins. The fundraising is underway. See the special insert in the June 2009 Woods' World. - December 2009 Campaign Tops $9.5 Million
