Woods announces Campaign Cabinet Foundation Co-Chair

The Honorable Harold B. Hairston, Sr., a member of Woods’ Board of Trustees, will serve as the Foundation Co-Chair of The Campaign for Woods' Second Century. As Co-Chair, Hairston will work in concert with Woods’ National Campaign Chair and the Campaign Cabinet to guide Woods’ fundraising efforts.
As Foundation Co-Chair, Hairston will be responsible for coordinating the cultivation of foundation representatives. Now retired, he served as the Fire Commissioner for the City of Philadelphia for 12 years, and currently works as a Consultant for fire and safety issues for KYW-TV3 in Philadelphia. As Commissioner, Hairston was responsible for 2,500 employees which comprised the fifth largest fire department in the country. During his tenure, the fire department was acclaimed for focusing on safety and prevention, especially in the area of reducing firefighter injuries. His strengths will be an asset to the Campaign, as he has extensive experience in public service and the management of complex organizations.
Hairston serves on several nonprofit boards, including the Board of CORA Services, Variety Club, PAL, The Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the Delaware Valley Burn Foundation, the Dad Vail Regatta, the Young Scholars Charter School, and is Chairman of the Laboratory Charter School for Communication and Languages. He is also a member of the International Association of Black Professional Firefighters and has been the recipient of dozens of awards for his civic-mindedness and leadership.
