Woods announces Campaign Cabinet Corporate Co-Chair
August 14th, 2007
George J. Vergis, Ph.D., President and CEO of Neose Technologies and a member of Woods’ Board of Trustees, will serve as the Corporate Co-Chair of The Campaign for Woods' Second Century. As Co-Chair, Vergis will work in concert with Woods’ National Campaign Chair and the Campaign Cabinet to guide Woods’ fundraising efforts. As Corporate Co-Chair, Vergis will be responsible for coordinating the cultivation of representatives of major corporations. Dr. Vergis joined Neose Technologies, a biopharmaceutical company, in 2001 as Vice President of Business and Commercial Development. He served most recently as Vice President of Commercial and Clinical Development before becoming President and CEO in May of last year. Prior to joining Neose, Dr. Vergis held senior management positions at Warner-Lambert Parke-Davis and Knoll Pharmaceutical Company. His standing in the pharmaceutical industry will assist Woods in gaining support for the Campaign.
"We are very fortunate that George has agreed to serve Woods in this way," said Robert G. Griffith, Ed.D., President of Woods Services. "He brings a breadth of experience to the Cabinet and is uniquely qualified to provide critical guidance to the Campaign."
Dr. Vergis is a long time resident of Bucks County, having been raised in Langhorne, PA. He now lives with his family in New Hope, PA and is quite active in support of not-for-profit organizations. In addition to his responsibilities as a Trustee of Woods, he is a member of the board for The Wistar Institute in Philadelphia, PA and for Plumstead Christian School in Plmsteadville, PA.
