October 16th, 2007
Woods Services, a non-profit organization serving more than 1,400 children and adults with developmental, emotional or brain-injury related disabilities, announces that the Family of Nancy Wells has made a gift exceeding $100,000 to support the construction of a new Medical, Dental And Employee Training Center on Woods’ Langhorne, PA campus.
Groundbreaking for the new Center took place on May 1, 2007 and will be completed in September 2008. The new facility will nearly double the amount of space Woods currently utilizes to provide health and dental care for those itserves. The Centerwill also provide much needed space to train the more than 2,000 people employed by Woods.
“Our daughter, Nancy, has been a resident at Woods since 1956,” said Greeley and Barbara Wells. “We knew from the first day that this was the best of the schools we had visited. She is surrounded by friends she cares about, and a staff that is caring and supportive.”
Nancy’s family established a trust on her behalf years ago, which they have used to support projects that will enhance the quality of life for her and the other people who are served by Woods.
In recognition of their generosity, the lobby of the Medical Clinic in the new Center will be named for the Family of Nancy Wells. “Woods has helped my sister lead an active and fulfilling life,” said Barbara Wells Kenney, Nancy’s sister. “Giving back is one of the ways we can make a difference in her life.”
In 1913 Mollie Woods founded The Woods Schools for children with developmental disabilities. Known as Woods Services today, the non-profit organization provides educational, residential, and vocational services to children and adults with special needs. Woods is located in Langhorne, Pa. with additional locations throughout Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware Counties.
